  1. Cuban economy minister removed to now oversee reforms

Cuba replaced Economy Minister Marino Murillo Jorge so that he can focus on overseeing the sweeping economic reforms expected to be approved at a meeting of the Communist Party in April, state media reported on Saturday. Murillo will be replaced by his top deputy Adel Yzquierdo Rodriguez, but wouldn`t continue on the position of the Economic Policy Commission. Murillo will also retain his position as one of the vice presidents of the government; Murillo has been put in charge of "supervising the implementation of measures associated with the updating of the Cuban economic model," President Raul Castro has introduced the biggest shakeup to the Soviet-style economy in decades. The proposals will be discussed at the Communist Party Congress,¬ the first to be held in almost 14 years, on April 16-19.

  2. It started out as a typical difference between a mother and child, the kind parents and kids around the world have thousands of times every day: Holger Kragh wanted to take his coat off during a walk in the woods. His mother wouldn't let him.
The little boy and his mother were on a field trip Sunday morning with other children and teachers in northwest Denmark.
When he was still missing at lunchtime, his parents called the police, sparking an intensive search.
Police, dog patrols, the military and emergency services scrambled to find the boy.
As news of his disappearance spread, hundreds of members of the public also fanned out to help search the area, Tranum Klitplantage, in north Jutland.
The police told CNN about this.
The search continued Monday morning, a bright clear day -- and then the news broke, in the form of a shout as CNN affiliate TV2 was broadcasting live.
"Ja!" comes the roar from just off-screen. The camera swings to find police team leader Flemming Bruun Jacobsen, had his other hand holding a phone to his ear.
They found him!" shouted the policeman.

"I don't know yet where he was found. We're sending a police car to get him," Jacobsen says with a grin. The boy was found by a member of the public on horseback 4 to 5 kilometers (2.5 to 3 miles) from the place where he was last seen, Badsberg said.

Holger was reunited with his parents, and his mother, Heidi Kragh.

It began out as a normal difference between a mother and child, the kind parents and kids everywhere the world have thousands of times every day: Holger Kragh required to revenue his coat off through a walk in the woods. His mother wouldn't let him.

The small boy and his mother remained on a ground trip Sunday morning with other children and teachers in northwest Denmark.
When he was still missing at lunchtime, his parents named the police, flashing a concentrated search.
Police, dog patrols, the military and emergency services knotted to find the boy.
As news of his disappearance extent, hundreds of members of the public also wafted out to help search the area, Tranum Klitplantage, in north Jutland.
The police informed CNN about this.
The search sustained Monday morning, a sunshine day -- and then the news broke, in the form of a shout as CNN affiliate TV2 was broadcasting live.

The policy stopped the practice of asking service members if they are gay, but still called for the dismissal of openly gay service members.

A doctor in Philadelphia noticed some elaborated adorned pottery for sale, he remembered that Mexican ceramics could produce a lead contamination, and he wondered if the same could happened with the pottery.
And the answer is yes. The contamination found in cooking and eating utensils could be severe enough to cause health problems. They concluded that there is a problem in Philadelphia, and in any other china community in the world.
To do the research, they bought some pottery samples and tested them. They got the samples from 32 locations, with 87 pieces bought in 49 nearby neighborhoods. They examined each piece for lead content, and more than a quarter of the examined pieces were positive. The results were confirmed with laboratory analysis, and three degrees of contamination could be demonstrated, and if the lead could be ingested with the food. Three plates and two spoons were releasing lead over the permitted limits, it is more than 145 parts per million.
This information was sent to FDA. The results were confirmed by the investigators to have confident data in case an administrative process arises. FDA has been open and helpful.
The stores were not at fault. The vendor must be sure they buy certified products of good quality, and they need help for advising. FDA should conduct a formal investigation until the root of the problem.
The investigator will continue with the follow up, asking his patients to bring the cooking and eating utensils for testing, and if the result is positive, the patient should have a blood test.
Until now, there is not a study for the correlation between eating utensils and elevated lead levels in blood.
The academics recommend to test children for lead twice a year before age of 2. The investigator is concerned for working with a population that have not been screened. Children that are 4 or 5 years old and eat utensils, or pregnant women could be ingesting lead with them. Nobody is looking at that patients.

To do the INVESTIGATION, they bought some GOOD pottery samples and tested them. They got the samples from 32 locations, with 87 pieces bought in 49 CLOSE BY neighborhoods. They examined each piece for lead content, and A LOT than a quarter of the examined pieces were positive. The REAL results were confirmed with laboratory analysis, and three degrees of contamination could be demonstrated, and if the lead MIGHT be ingested with the food. Three plates and two spoons were releasing lead over the permitted limits, it is more than 145 parts per million.
This information was sent to FDA. The results were ESTABLISHED by the SEARCH to have CONVINCED data in case an administrative process arises. FDA has been open and helpful.
The stores were not at fault. The SELLER must be CONFIDENT they buy certified products of WELL quality, and they need help for advising. FDA should conduct a GREAT formal EXPLORATION until the root of the problem.
The BIG investigator will continue with the follow up, asking his patients to TRANSPORT the cooking and eating TOOLS for testing, and if the result is positive, the patient MUST have a blood test.
Until now, there is not LEARNING for the correlation between eating utensils and HIGH lead levels in blood.
The GREAT academics PROPOSE testing children for lead twice a year before age of 2. The investigator is concerned for working with a population that has not been screened. Children that are 4 or 5 years old and eat utensils, or WITH CHILD women could be ingesting lead with them. Nobody is looking at those patients.

Colombian military kills 15 rebels, president says
Colombian armed forces have killed 15 guerrillas in the western province of Cauca, President Juan Manuel Santos said Saturday. Santos described the military operation against the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, commonly known as FARC, as a “decisive blow”. It took place less than two weeks after the military led an assault that killed a rebel leader near Colombia's border with Ecuador in Putumayo province. Known as Oliver Solarte, the rebel leader had been linked to Mexican drug cartels. Solartete was sought for extradition to the United States for drug trafficking and was wanted in Colombia for terrorism, kidnapping, rebellion and murder. By contrast, Colombian military officials say only lower-ranking FARC combatants were killed in Friday's assault. The FARC is a leftist rebel army that claims to work as a bulwark against Colombia's elite ruling class, and has traditionally funded operations by way of narcotics sales and kidnappings.

Kent State Students: Don't Discriminate Against Sign Language
Drew Hellebrand, a 25-year-old Ken State senior registered for an American Sign Language (ASL) class at Kent State University after he found out his passion for deaf culture and sign language.
Ken State School lets students to take ASL classes to comply with their foreign language prerequisite like they do when they choose other languages.
A couple of weeks ago, this changed when Kent State proclaimed that students could not take ASL to gain foreign language credits, due to the budget cuts. Hellebrand, and a small group of students jumped into action.
University officials assign the constraint to financial support cuts and the need to lessen class offerings, Hellebrand stated-- but other Kent State language programs haven't been hit with this restriction.
ASL students are applying to Change.org to petition Dr. Jennifer Larson, Kent State's Chair of the Modern and Classical Language Studies Department, to overturn the decision and allow all students to take ASL classes.
Limiting ASL classes to only ASL majors will hinder the expansion of deaf supporters and followers, which will have a ripple effect far outside of Kent State.
In less than 24 hours, more than 500 people have signed the request - many from the ASL and deaf community. The "Silent Standoff" group of students is also attempting to organize a meeting with Dr. Larson, and publish the issue on-campus flyers and through Facebook.
Hellebrand, who began the request on Change.org, is a criminal justice major who wishes to study politics in graduate school and expects to use his sign language ability to reach under-served deaf communities.
Even though faculty staffs have recognized faculty layoffs and class cuts to budget matters, the "Silent Standoff" group observes the cuts as excessively targeting the ASL program.

The +1 button will soon appear next to links on Google's search results page. Users will be able to recommend links to their list of Gmail chat buddies and those in their Gmail "My Contacts" group. It's meant to help guide friends through search results, allowing them to see what people they know think is most useful. As an example, Google said that if you're looking for a new pasta recipe, search results could be populated with +1's from your "culinary genius" friend. The company said it will start introducing the buttons on other Google products. Google also plans to offer the buttons up to third-party websites, as Facebook did with its Like button. Some analysts speculate that +1 will eventually replace the Buzz button. Google also on Wednesday announced a settlement deal with the Federal Trade Commission over charges stemming from its Buzz misfire. Still, Facebook is dashing past Google in many Internet milestones. Last year, the social network topped Google for the lead in the number of website referrals. Web users now spend more time on Facebook than Google. Google says it is focused on social as a way to power search.
